Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) strongly demands for immediate cancellation of order for removal of Kyawba Mong Marma from the post of chairmanship of Rowangchari Upazila Parishad (second lowest of local government body in Bangladesh), the ground of which is founded on undemocratic and fascist manner emanating from conspiracy ? for the sake of democracy, good governance and overall development of the inhabitants of Rowangchari upazila; and with that to withdraw all the fabricated cases filed against Kyawba Mong Marma.
In a press released signed by Mangal Kumar Chakma, Information and Publicity Secretary of PCJSS dated 4 April 2017, PCJSS expresses its strong condemnation and protest over illegal removal of Kyawba Mong Marma, Chairman of Rowangchari Upazila Parishad by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative (Upazila Branch-2) on 22 March 2017.
It is to be noted that as per the gazette (no. 46.045.027.08.104.104.2016-289 dated 22nd March 2017) signed by Lutfar Rahman, Senior Assistant Secretary, the Rowangchari Upazila Parishad Chairman Kyawba Mong Marma, was removed from his post on allegation of misconduct and misuse of power as per Section-13(1)(a) and 13(1)(c) of the Upazila Parishad Act 1998 [amended by Upazila Parishad Act 2011(Amendment)].
In fact, such allegation that has been brought against Kyawba Mong Marma is concocted and of conspiring. It is worthy to be mentioned that cases based on falsehood allegation of having involvement in kidnapping, extortion, intimidation, etc. were filed one after another against Kyawba Mong Marma, also General Secretary of Bandarban District Committee of PCJSS, with a mean objective to remove him from the post of Chairmanship of Rowangchari Upazila Parishad, as a part of conspiracy hatched by a certain quarter of the government. Following grant of bail in a fabricated case, Kyawba Mong Marma was obstructed in performing his duties and responsibilities as Chairman of Upazila Parishad by entangling him yet in another plotted case. Such conspiring way of removal of elected public representative, Kyawba Mong Marma, certain quarter of the government is nothing but a manifestation of undemocratic and fascist policy on part of the government. PCJSS reckons this act of removal of a democratically elected Chairman by might of power is tantamount to ignore the country’s democracy and verdict of the people.
