Hill Women’s Federation

Hill Women’s Federation (HWF) is a wing organization of Parbatya Chattgram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) struggling for rights to self-determination of the indigenous peoples in Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. The HWF was founded on 8 March 1988 with the female youths of the indigenous communities. The organization aims at playing reciprocal response to the struggle of indigenous peoples under PCJSS leadership. Objectives of this organization, among others, are as follows:

(a) To foster zeal and enthusiasm in the women society for greater unity among the indigenous community;
(b) To preserve culture, heritage, practices, rites and rituals of the indigenous societies;
(c) To establish a compact society free from chauvinism of all forms, discrimination and exploitation.

The Central Representative Conference of HWF is held in every three years after and it is the supreme body of the organization which elects a Central Committee accountable to it. The Central Committee is the highest organ of the HWF.

The HWF has branches in the educational institutions at university, college and school levels. Besides, it has also branch organizations at district and Upazila (Sub-district) levels in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT).

At present, Ms. Shanti Debi Tanchangya is the president of the HWF while Ms. Mranu Ching Marma and Ms. U Li Cing Marma are working as General Secretary and Organizing Secretary of the HWF respectively.
