The Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) is deeply shocked at learning about departure of Eric Reginald Lubbock, Lord Avebury on Sunday, 14 February 2016 at the age of 87.
PCJSS in its condolence letter signed by Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma, President of PCJSS, on 15 February 2016 said that demise of Lord Avebury is a great and irreparable loss to mankind. At his death, the indigenous Jumma peoples of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) have lost one of their nearest and dearest friends who had been at his utmost care for the longstanding humanitarian cause of the CHT Jumma peoples, as a Co-Chair of the International CHT Commission.
The PCJSS gratefully remembers his several visits to the CHT and his highly commendable contributions towards assertion of human rights and national existence of CHT Jumma peoples. The PCJSS also recalls with deep gratitude and honour that his campaign for a political solution of the CHT problem contributed to the signing of the CHT Accord 1997.
The PCJSS equally shares grief and saddest moments with the bereaved family of Lord Eric Avebury and the great people of the United Kingdom.
