PCJSS protested against the news on murder of Mongkya Marma (50), president of Awami League (AL) of Rajastali upazila under Rangamati Hill District published on the daily ‘Kaler Kontho’ and the daily ‘Supravat Bangladesh’ charging Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) for this incident. Both the newspapers reported in same language alleging the effect that Santu Larma-led PCJSS was responsible for this incident based on allegation of victim’s family and the leaders of upazila Awami League. Mongkya Marma was shot dead on 2 February 2014 at 8:00 p.m. at his residence in Rajastali.

In its rejoinder issued on 4 February 2014, PCJSS stated that the allegation of PCJSS involvement in the incident was totally baseless, imaginary, fabricated and politically-motivated. It is mentionable that this baseless and politically-motivated allegation of the victim’s family and AL leaders was reported without seeking any comment from PCJSS. PCJSS strongly believes that the crime was committed by some quarter to defame party’s image and to reap a good amount of harvest in the ensuing election. It is to be mentioned that PCJSS conveyed its objection to such defaming reports to Fazle Elahi, a correspondent of these two dailies on 3 February, 2014. But PCJSS rejoinder was not published by the dailies.

It is very shocking that Aung Sing Nue Marma (28) s/o Mongre Marma, a PCP member from Kakrachari village under Rajastali upazila was taken arrested and inflicted inhuman torture by the police accusing him to have involved in the murder. PCJSS, in its Press Release, condemned and protested the arrest of Aungsingnu Marma and demanded unconditional release of the arrestee.
