On 25 August 2016 Parbatya Chattagram Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP) of Dhaka Metropolitan Branch organized a protest rally and mass gathering demanding effective implementation of CHT Land Dispute Resolution Commission Ordinance for proper resolution of land disputes in CHT and to stop illegal acquisition of 700 acres of traditional land of indigenous Jumma peoples in the name of tourism at Alutila area of Matiranga upazila under Khagrachari district and protesting against communal attack on indigenous Jumma peoples in Khagrachari town, held in Aparajeyo Bangla of Dhaka University.  The procession started from Aparajeyo Bangla and after circumambulating the campus area it ended there.

President of PCP of Dhaka Metropolitan branch Carrington Chakma presided over the programme while general secretary of PCP Dhaka branch Sulav Chakma conducted the programme. President of Bangladesh Adivasi Chhatra Sangram Parishad Suman Marma and central vice president of PCP Ananta Bikash Dhamai, Student of Dhaka University Zenet Chakma and Rony Chakma, information and publicity secretary of PCP Dhaka Metropolitan branch Amar Shanti Chakma & finance secretary Tanak Tanchangya, president of Tripura Student Forum of Dhaka Metropolitan branch Lalon Tripura et al spoke in the demonstration.

Speakers said, the indigenous Tripura peoples have been living at Alutila area for generations. Now the Government is trying to grab their land and evict them from their ancestral land in the name of tourism. The indigenous peoples of CHT are losing their traditional land day by day in the name of development, tourism, military camp etc.

They also said that, government conspiracy is going on to grab the 700 acres of land belonging to indigenous Tripura peoples in the name of tourism in Alutila under Khagrachari district. Not only in Alutila, 200 families of indigenous Mro community by grabbing 60 acres of land at Kaprue Mro Para in the name of Nilgiri tourist centre, 129 Mro families by grabbing 600 acres of land in the name of establishment of military camp in Jibon Nagar, 500 acres of land at Chandra Pahar, 500 acres of land at Kraudong (Dim Pahar), 20 acres of land at Nilachal tourist spot and 65 families of indigenous Tripura community in the name of Sajek luxurious tourist spot at Sajek under Rangamati district are also passing days under threats to eviction from their ancestral lands, they added.

Speakers also said, the land issue is one of the major problems in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Recently to solve the land problem in CHT, CHT Land Dispute Resolution Commission (Amendment) Ordinance 2016 has been enacted by the President. However, following the enactment of this Ordinance, conspiracy and evil activities of extremist and fanatic vested groups are being carried out in CHT with an aim to foil implementation of said land commission ordinance.Speakers also demanded immediately implementation of CHT Accord, effective functioning of CHT Land Commission and to stop illegal land grabbing. If land grabbing of indigenous peoples across the country do not stop, then tougher programme including large student demonstration and rally against the land grabbing will be imposed and government will be responsible for any unwanted circumstance for that, speakers warned the government.
